ONLINE REGISTRATION for FIRST RECONCILIATION & FIRST HOLY COMMUNION CLASS

WERE BAPTIZED NON-CATHOLIC WITH NO CATHOLIC PROFESSION OF FAITH

Please follow the steps below to register your child for catechism classes in preparation for First Reconciliation & First Holy Communion.
Please read all the steps below before completing the online forms. Ensure that all steps are completed accordingly.

STEP 1: SUBMIT AN INITIAL ONLINE REGISTRATION FOR MANDATORY CATECHISM CLASS. Note that a FINAL REGISTRATION is required after Baptism or Profession of Faith.

CLICK HERE to REGISTER (INITIAL) ONLINE on or before Tuesday, OCTOBER 1, 2024 then go back to this page to complete next steps (Step 2) - REGISTRATION IS CLOSED.

STEP 2: Choose 2A or 2B (whichever applies)

2A: ARRANGE FOR BAPTISM (IF YOUR CHILD WAS NEVER BAPTIZED)

- Baptism is a pre-requisite to receiving the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion
- While your child's baptism is in process, your child must start attending the First Holy Communion catechism class in the parish.
- CLICK HERE to arrange your child's baptism then go back to this page to complete next steps (Steps 3 to 6).

2B: ARRANGE FOR PROFESSION OF FAITH (IF YOUR CHILD WAS BAPTIZED IN A NON-CATHOLIC CHRISTIAN CHURCH WITH VALID BAPTISM BUT THE CATHOLIC PARENT HAS NOT RECEIVED THE PROFESSION OF FAITH ON BEHALF OF THE CHILD)

- Catholic parent's Profession of Faith on behalf of his/her child who was baptized in a non-Catholic Christian Church (with valid baptism) is a pre-requisite to receiving the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion
- While your child's Profession of Faith is in process, your child must start attending the First Holy Communion catechism class in the parish.
- Send an EMAIL to the Parish Office at guardianangelsbr@archtoronto.org requesting an appointment with the Parish Priest regarding receiving the Profession of Faith on behalf of your child.
  Attach the following documents to the email:
  - electronic copy of child's non-Catholic baptism certificate showing the date of birth of the child, the names of the parents, name & signature of the priest and seal of the church
  - electronic copy of child's birth certificate showing the names of the parents
  - electronic copy of parent's Catholic baptism certificate
    All the above documents must be in English. Otherwise, they have to be translated to English by a certified translator.
- WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REQUEST THE PARENT TO SHOW THE ORIGINAL OF THE REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

STEP 3: PARENTS AND CHILD MUST ATTEND THE MANDATORY PARENTS' SESSION ON OCTOBER 26, 2024 at 10:00 a.m.

STEP 4: ATTEND & COMPLETE ALL FIRST HOLY COMMUNION CATECHISM CLASSES

Catechism classes are mandatory for children in grade 2 or older
The Parish Sacramental Preparation Ministry provides the catechism classes
Parish schools will no longer offer catechism classes in preparation for these Sacraments
SCHEDULE of CATECHISM CLASSES for both Grades 2-4 and Grades 5-7

- DATES: 2024: October 26, November 2,9,16,23,30
  2025: February 22, March 1,22,29, April 5,12
- TIME: 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
- VENUE: Guardian Angels Parish Hall

AFTER YOUR CHILD'S BAPTISM OR AFTER RECEIVING THE PROFESSION OF FAITH ON BEHALF OF YOUR CHILD

STEP 5: PREPARE THE ELECTRONIC COPIES OF THE DOCUMENTS

All documents must be in either PDF or JPG format
File size must not exceed 100 MB each
All documents must be in English. Otherwise, it has to be translated to English by a certified translator
WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REQUEST THE PARENT TO SHOW THE ORIGINAL OF THE REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:

FOR THE CHILD WHO RECENTLY RECEIVED THE CATHOLIC BAPTISM:

- electronic copy of child's Catholic Baptism certificate showing the date of birth of the child, names of the parents, name & signature of the priest and the seal of the church

FOR THE CHILD WHOSE CATHOLIC PARENT RECENTLY RECEIVED THE PROFESSION OF FAITH ON BEHALF OF THE CHILD:

- electronic copy of the child's Non-Catholic baptism certificate showing the date of birth of the child, names of the parents, name & signature of the priest and the seal of the church
- electronic copy of the child's birth certificate showing the names of the parents
- electronic copy of the Parent's Catholic Profession of Faith

STEP 6: Complete the FINAL ONLINE REGISTRATION.
