ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS OF CONFIRMATION SPONSOR:

- Canon 892: Insofar as possible, there is to be a sponsor for the person to be confirmed; the sponsor is to take care that the confirmed person behaves as a true witness of Christ and faithfully fulfills the obligations inherent in this sacrament.
- Canon 893 §1: To perform the function of sponsor, a person must fulfill the conditions mentioned in canon 874 §1.
- Canon 874 §1: To be permitted to take on the function of sponsor a person must:
- Be appointed by the candidate for Confirmation or by the parents or whoever stands in their place, or failing these, by the parish priest or the minister; to be appointed, he/she must be suitable for this role and have the intention of fulfilling it.
- At least 16 years of age
- He/She has been fully initiated in the Catholic Church (received the Sacraments of Baptism, Holy Communion and Confirmation)
- In good standing with the Catholic Curch; live a life of faith which befits the role to be undertaken; not under canonical penalty
- Not the father or mother of the one to be confirmed
2. OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

- A Confirmation sponsor in good standing attends Sunday Mass regularly
- Must be able to attend the Confirmation Mass.

- Proxy is not allowed.
- Must complete and provide the completed CONFIRMATION SPONSOR DECLARATION FORM and a copy of the sponsor's CONFIRMATION CERTIFICATE to the parent of the child on or before Saturday, OCTOBER 4, 2025
