Pastor of the parish, Fr. William Mbugua, S.J., was pleased to welcome His Grace to the parish saying, “thank you for being with us to celebrate our feast day, and let us congratulate you on the occasion of your first anniversary of being named Archbishop of Toronto one year ago today!”

In his homily, Archbishop Leo remarked on the beauty of the parish, not just the wonderful architecture of the church, but also the beauty of coming together as a parish family community on a special occasion of the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes.

Turning to the Gospel for the day, His Grace spoke on the impact Our Lady continues to have as she intercedes on our behalf, and has been doing so since the time of the wedding feast at Cana. “For 2000 years our Mother Mary continues to present to her son, our Saviour, now both of them in the glory of Heaven, she presents to him our prayers,” Archbishop Leo said to the congregation.

Our Lady of Lourdes Parish is served by the Jesuits of Canada and several priests from the order concelebrated the Mass. After Mass, the Holy Rosary was prayed by all in attendance.
