ONLINE REGISTRATION for FIRST RECONCILIATION & FIRST HOLY COMMUNION CLASS

FOR CHILDREN WHO WERE NEVER BAPTIZED OR WERE BAPTIZED NON-CATHOLIC WITH NO CATHOLIC PROFESSION OF FAITH

Please follow the steps below.  Please ensure that all steps below are completed.

STEP 1: INITIAL ONLINE REGISTRATION FOR MANDATORY CATECHISM CLASS

  • ONLINE REGISTRATION DEADLINE: Registration has been extended. Second and last extension to register is by 10 PM on  Thursday, October 19, 2023
    • CLICK HERE to register your child for catechism class (Initial Registration)

STEP 2: ARRANGE FOR BAPTISM OR PROFESSION OF FAITH (whichever applies)

2A: IF YOUR CHILD WAS NEVER BAPTIZED

    • Baptism is a pre-requisite to receiving the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion
    • While your child's baptism is in process, your child must start attending the catechism class in the parish.

OR

2B: IF YOUR CHILD WAS BAPTIZED NON-CATHOLIC (WITH VALID BAPTISM) BUT CATHOLIC PARENT HAS NOT DONE THE CATHOLIC PROFESSION OF FAITH

    • Catholic parent's Profession of Faith on behalf of his/her child is a pre-requisite to receiving the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion
    • While your child's Profession of Faith is in process, your child must start attending the catechism class in the parish. 
    • Send an EMAIL to the Parish Office at guardianangelsbr@archtoronto.org and include in the email the following:
      • electronic copy of child's non-Catholic baptism certificate 
      • electronic copy of child's birth certificate showing the names of the parents
      • electronic copy of parent's Catholic baptism certificate 
      • all documents must be in English. Otherwise, they have to be translated to English by a certified translator.
      • request the Parish Office for an appointment with the Parish Priest regarding receiving the Profession of Faith on behalf of your child
    • We reserve the right to request to see the original of the required supporting documents

STEP 3: ATTEND & COMPLETE ALL CATECHISM CLASSES

  • Catechism classes are mandatory for children in grade 2 or older including those in our parish schools
  • The Parish Sacramental Preparation Ministry provides the catechism classes
  • Parish schools will no longer offer catechism classes in preparation for these Sacraments
  • SCHEDULE of CATECHISM CLASSES

Date:    Saturdays in 2023: Oct 21 & 28, Nov 4, 11, 18 & 25 and
             Saturdays in 2024: Jan 13, 20 & 27, Feb 3 & 24, Mar 2 & 23
Time:   10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
Venue: Guardian Angels Parish Hall

STEP 4: PARISH REGISTRATION OF PARENTS IF LIVING WITHIN THE L7A AREA

STEP 5: VISIT THIS PAGE AGAIN AFTER YOUR CHILD'S BAPTISM OR AFTER RECEIVING THE PROFESSION OF FAITH ON BEHALF OF YOUR CHILD TO COMPLETE STEPS 5 AND 6

STEP 6: PREPARE THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS BEFORE COMPLETING THE FINAL ONLINE REGISTRATION

  • Save the following documents in PDF or JPG format. File size must not exceed100 MB 
    • For child who was never baptized
      • electronic copy of child's baptism certificate  
    • For child whose Catholic parent received the Profession of Faith on behalf of the child:
      • electronic copy of the child's Non-Catholic baptism certificate  
      • electronic copy of Parent's Catholic Profession of Faith 
    • All documents must be in English. Otherwise, they have to be translated to English by a certified translator.
    • We reserve the right to request to see the original of the required supporting documents

STEP 7: Complete the FINAL ONLINE REGISTRATION

    • If child was recently baptized Catholic, CLICK HERE
    • If parent received the Profession of Faith on behalf of the child, CLICK HERE
